The Public Commissioners participated in the joint meeting of the Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement in the European Union, Mr. Oliver Varhelyi and the Director of International Monitoring Operation, Ms. Genoveva Ruiz Calavera, held in Tirana with the representatives of institutions of transitional re-evaluation process of prosecutors and judges in the Republic of Albania.
The Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement in the European Union, Mr. Oliver Varhelyi assesses the progress of the vetting process and affirmed the European Union support for the continuation of this crucial reform, which elevates Albania closer to the European Union.
The Director of International Monitoring Operation, Ms. Genoveva Ruiz Calavera, deemed important the meeting of the European Commissioner with the Vetting institutions and required that the re-evaluation process should continue with the same professional ethics and commitment to guarantee that the Justice Reform is the utmost to ensure the best for the Albanian people. Ms. Calavera requires that biased assaults on the Vetting process should be halted.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Mr. Luigi Soreca.
The Institution of Public Commissioners has been established and operates under Article 179/b, and the Annex of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and Law No. 84/2016, “On the Transitional Re-evaluation of Judges and Prosecutors in the Republic of Albania”.
